It may sound unbelievable, but there are spare parts for Mercedes or BMW in the market that are cheaper and better than those bearing the manufacturer's logo or produced for the first assembly. One of the brands offering such components is Frey!
Frey is a young company established in 2004, but it is very ambitious. One of its goals was to achieve even higher quality components than those used by car manufacturers themselves. What is more, it is a brand that not only sets ambitious goals, but also achieves them.
Frey is a brand for a few, not for everyone. The spare parts created are dedicated to two car manufacturers – Mercedes and BMW. Spare parts better than the original ones
First, let’s take the oil pan for the BMW F30 model with the N20 engine. The original oil pan is made of plastic and rubber. Standard materials appear to be the norm in this class of vehicles
Frey went further and used aluminium and silicone to build an oil pan for the BMW. Advantages of this solution? The pan is more resistant to deformation, higher temperatures and significantly reduces the risk of oil leakage. In other words, when the chassis hits a speed bump or a stone hits the tire, the substitute will better withstand contact with a hard material.
The same applies to the oil filter housing in the same BMW model. The original is made of plastic. However, the Frey substitute is made of aluminium and fiberglass. The differences in properties are, of course, in favour of the substitute – greater resistance to mechanical damage, deformation, higher temperatures and leaks.

Can you use Frey parts under warranty?
You don’t have to worry about losing the warranty or the quality of substitutes as long as you meet the following conditions. Since 2010, it is no longer necessary to have the car serviced by an authorized service centre (ASC) during the warranty period. All you need to do is replace the parts or have a periodic inspection at a car workshop that follows the procedures established by the manufacturer. The mechanic must carry out the service in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations and record all activities performed in the service book or vehicle card.
After the warranty expires, you can still use substitutes and follow the recommendations of the authorized service, but it is recommended to make repairs using high-quality spare parts.
